the midnight zone

The depths of the ocean are divided into zones based on sunlight levels. The midnight zone spans from 1000m-4000m and gets no light from the surface; temperatures are freezing and pressure immense, making life very difficult for anything that lives there. In constant darkness, the creatures of this zone have made many evolutionary sacrifices to sustain themselves in such an unforgiving environment. Little explored, the deep sea is full of surprises lurking in the dark.
